However, you can use them with a Mass prescription in another state.

 I am not sure why, but it could be that MA has had its own version ACA for a
few years.
 (ACA is quite similar to the MA program) So, it is possible you may be getting
a government subsidy to help pay for your insurance,
and then the situation is similar to medicare as described below.

That's not a dumb question. Here's a dumb question: Newsie asking the widow 
who got a posthumous award for her dh: "Do you wish your husband were here 
to get this award?"    DUH!!!

Coupons and benefits do not work with Medicare since they do not want us to 
benefit from the gov. AND a coupon. The fine print usually spells that out. 
;-(
