hi adam,  I ve been on metformin for years,  I can only take 1,000 a day.
also have insulin resistance, but still on novalog, type 1 since 1990.
insulin resistance is nasty, my dr. threaten to put me on u500 a couple of
years ago, and my cde kept  doing good things to my basal.  good luck
