Re: [IP] Do you use your bolus wizard?

When I am away from home, I have no choice but to look at the food and try
to figure out how much insulin to take. This can be daunting, since you
never ever know what they've put into the food. Experience often helps.
At home, it's a different story. I carb factor most foods or weigh them and
go according to the carb count on the box. For example, when I eat an
apple I core it and weigh it and then multiply the number of grams by the
carb factor. This gives me a precise number of carbs and makes my life
very easy. Same with bread. Since I bake my own, every piece is weighed
and multiplied by it's carb factor. If I'm eating cereal, I put the bowl
on the scale pour in the cereal, and multiply the weight by the grams on
the box. I also eat peanut butter on my apple and have found that even
though it has carbs, I don't have to shoot up for them. Peanut butter is a
neutral food for me. Susan
