Re: [IPu] Fw: [IP] Re: arthritis - any tie to diabetes?

I didn't know that there was a tie-up with T1, though have wondered. I
thought maybe just part of the ageing process. 4 years ago I had major back
surgery on a prolapsed disc - it all happened rather suddenly and I was
operated on quite quickly. Now I am told that there is
further 'deterioration' in my spine (following an x.ray), but I have been
putting off going to discuss it with my GP as a re-referral to the
orthopaedic surgeon has been suggested. I also have joint pains in my
fingers and hands. I've only been on statins for a year or so, so didn't
think there was any relationship there as I've had these other problems for
a while. I find that if I mention my hands/fingers I meet a wall of silence!
I guess if I made a specific appointment with my GP to just discuss this I
might get somewhere. Knees are also a bit painful sometimes and also hips -
intermittent problems, nothing that keeps me immobile. Will be interested
if anyone else has problems. I do take a new generation anti-inflammatory,
but they are expensive. Kathy S.
