[IPu] Leaving the "old Site" in at site change Time

Thanks Janette for all the interesting stuff you forward here.

Michael often goes high after a site change and I read somewhere about leaving
the old site in for awhile and spoke to our pumper trainer who said not to. We
now give a 0.5 bolus at site change time - not much but he is very sensitive to
insulin and total daily basal is 6.4 units. The other specialist who we see
locally said that going high after a site change is quite common. We test more
frequently for about 4 - 6 hours after a site change as every now and then,
just
to keep us on our toes, bsl will drop. We also try and time a site change to
just before a snack or meal so that a reasonable size bolus is delivered that
can hopefully clear any tissue that may end up in the needle (we use Rapid d's
-
metal needle) during insertion.

INSULIN IS NOT A CURE

Hi All,
For new Pumpers this is useful advice. Mmmm ....... now for the admission
.... don't replug yourself to the "old site" (not removed yet), after you
shower ! Only done it once ... so far ....
Warm Regards,
Janette
