Re: [IPu] Equity re Syringes ..... Survey ????

Hi Heather,
In Australia, if you are registered with NDSS (National Diabetes Supply
Scheme) and have a Medicare Card then Syringes are subsided. If you live in
NSW, Syringes are free because the NSW Govt subsides the balance of the
cost. NSW has accepted that it is discriminatory to supply free Syringes
only to Heroin users. So in NSW if you are registered with NDSS and have a
Medicare card, a box of Syringes are free.

Well, I think NSW is the only State that supplies them free ? ... Help me
out, if I've got it wrong !!!

DA (Diabetes Australia) tell me they get Syringes for $13 per 100 (a box).

Janette
