You are not alone, in Australia the situation is similar. Insulin Pumpers is 
providing some cover but due to the cost of pumps limits the number of users 
and even in Sydney it is difficult to find sufficient numbers to gather in a 
group. There appears to be a belief that all Type 1 are of school age. The 
majority of Diabetic local groups in New South Wales consist of Type 2
