Tsunami disaster: response to shortage of insulin and diabetes supplies
Posted on January 7, 2005 at 02:14 PM by IDF News Team in Headline News.

In the wake of the terrible earthquake and tsunami that recently hit
South-East Asia, Insulin for Life Australia - a non-profit company that
supplies and donates insulin and other diabetes supplies in urgent situations
- has responded to requests for assistance from India, Sri Lanka and the
Maldives to address the shortage of insulin and diabetes supplies in the areas
affected. Several thousand mls of insulin along with blood glucose meters and
test stips have been sent to the Diabetes Association of Sri Lanka and are
being sent to the WHO Collaborating Centre in Chennai and to the Diabetes and
Cancer Society of Maldives.

The International Diabetes Federation has established a Tsunami Disaster Fund
to assist the diabetes community in the areas affected. For more information,
