The last article I read on the subject was in Diabetes Forecast Magazine and
it wasn't positive because you have to still take anti-rejection drugs, and
you have to cope with the side-effects.
Even at that, seems the islet cell transplants only last so long anyway. The
article was published within the last 6 months I believe.

Can anyone give me an up to date summary of where islet transplantation has
got to and whether there are any hopes that this could now be successfull??

It seems that I've now got to at least consider this after prolonged and
unsuccessful struggles with my bouncing monthly hormones, which even my
pump can't really cope with. Even worse, the menopause looms.......!!!
