[IP] stem cells

From: Leann Marcucci <email @ redacted>
Subject: [IP] re:stem- cells, ada , jdrf

i don't want to start a flame war, but my coworkers, friends and my
husband and i were discussing
this lately. they aren't diabetic so i wanted to ask other dm'ers.
if you're against stem cell research for personal/moral/ethical reasons,
would you please pretend that next year the jdrf announces that by
growing all the insulin-
producing cells we'll ever
need from just 10 eggs and diabetes is cured. would you take the cure?
the embryos were taken from mothers who had in vitro fertilization so they
were going to be discarded anyway, like they currently are.
so if this list is reduced to 1000 people because people are being cured
left and right, would you still not get the cure because of your previous
reasoning? what other factors would need to be involved to influence your
decision, if any?

please, i really am just curious..... i don't want to fight.

I'd go for it in a few seconds. I was oked for a pancreas transplant here in
the city but turned it down for the antirejection drugs. If I didn't need
those drugs which you dont need with stem cell islet cells I'd go for it in
a second. I would ask everyone to consider this in an unemotional way. spot
diabetes kills people, it really does!
