Vitamin A can actually cause birth defects if taken in
too large of doses. It is not a water soluble vitamin
like the B vitamins and vit C, so it builds up to toxic
levels. You also don't want to overdo it on vit D.
Prenatal vitamins have the proper amounts of most
vitamins/minerals except calcium and iron (you usually
need more of these).

you.  Anybody know which ones, and how much is too
much?  Would you have to
worry about that with prenatal vitamins?
