Re: [IP] Pump called off

Lurline--

I'm disappointed in your giving up on the insulin pump without really giving
it a try. For myself a diabetic for 44 years, it has greatly changed my
life and given me the freedom I always wanted. I had a very good switch
over from my MDI to the pump and found it quite easy to control this
disease. First of all the person that uses this machine should have an
understanding of its role in the control of the disease. After 43 yrs of
shots, I, like many of the pumpers would fight to keep their important
tool to help with the control and this is by far the best way to do it.
For me just after two months my A1C was down to just 6.5 and just had a test
for an A1C today and expect it to be in the 5s. So I think you should at
least try the pump out and learn by the experience. Then you will know that
you made a sound judgment. I, for just one person can't understand why
anyone would not be willing go that extra mile and just try the pump. For me
the pump and this post has really opened up many different ideas I have
found to be good. I knew what I wanted to do before I went to pump therapy.
I was willing to try different aspects of better control. At this time I
have very little highs or lows and I give that credit to the pump and the
wonderful steady basal rates.

Bob
pumping and still liking the freedom.
