you can use a piece-wise approximation for the insulin put in over 
each half hour.

going backwards, most recent first
20% for the first 30 min
20% for 2nd 30 minutes
20% for 3d
10% for 4th
10% for 5th
10% for 6th

this will get you close -- the variation in food digestion rate 
probably produces a larger error than the above estimate. It is not 
very scientific, just what we use. It's my guess based on the curves 
supplied with each vial of insulin.
