I've been type 1 20 years, pumping 3 years.
I too was told I had "spots" about 6 years ago and not to worry about them.
Went to my regular annual exams, dialated and examined by opthomologist, and
told last year I had "peripheral retinopathy" but that wasn't enough to do
anything about. This May when I went he got this worried look when I told him
when I looked out of only my right eye, my tile floor had wavy lines. I
thought my eyes were just "tired". He sent me to a Retina Specialist and
within days I was seen and he lasered me that very first visit. I've been
back for two checkups, the floor is still wavy and he says that that's great,
they've stopped the progression. Personally, I don't feel its too great. Why
didn't they do anything back at the spot stage, before it was too late?
Maybe a year is too long to wait with "spots?"

I think if I were you, I'd like them to do something before the lines in the
card start waving. But, yes I'm glad to have good vision, just feeling a bit
carsick sometimes.
