Can't answer you about the antibodies, don't know anything about them. 
About the thyroid though...diabetics are at slightly higher risk for
certain thyroid disorders (especially Graves disease) that are also
autoimmune type problems.  Most thyroid tests just involve bloodwork,
used to that aren't we?! <g>  And if there is a problem the sooner
found the fewer problems it will create with bg control.  I
unfortunately went undiagnosed for 2.5 years and now have a hair
trigger on my whole metabolic system.
