[IP] RE: Lancet changing day
I must have missed the last few changing notices....and I had to change
last week, the 3mm needle had worn down to nothing and the plastic is not
sharp enough to bring blood to the surface....I finally used my pocket knife
point for a while but the alcohol used to for sterilization caused to much
discomfort. I know that the notices are normally sent out at changing time
and I will try and pay attention. Using lancets for a few weeks is no
different than when we used needles and had to sharpen them....think we
boiled the needles after sharpening them if time and a fire was available.
The only infection I have ever had was from an new infusion set that was
supposedly sterilized, and I had used alcohol and IV Prep on the location
before inserting.
