[IP] Re: change time on meters and pumps

<snip> I've seen the pictures of the tip of a lancet and it doesn't look
too
> pretty to me, nor would I want to use that tip over and over again

(I am sorry if anyone needed to see the entire post along with any
replies as well as 3-4 *For HELP...* messages, they can go to the
archives where they are permanently stored)

And I would not want to give my child a drop of water - I've seen what
they look like in a microscopic-view picture! ewwwww!

The Toastmasters conference is over and we had a good time. Some told us
we did a perfect job - until it was time to clean up and they all left
my hugsband and me to toss, throw, remove, and etc., on 2 floors of the
Holiday Inn City Center in South Bend - except one kind member who was
talking with us a bit - around 10:30 p.m. We gave this newbie *wise*
advice on speaking (LOL) and she continued to hang around. She actually
started to help tidy up and went to the 9th floor to clean out the
Hospitality room for us all by her lonesome. What a dear. We continued
talking where we left off when she came down; she saw my books on the
display table so knew I have IDDM.

Come to find out, she works for Roche. I asked about the new Spirit pump
and she said they are waiting on a 10 - or 110 something or other which
I am sure is FDA related. I explained why I want to forever-stick to my
MiniMed 508 and she understood (the clicks and slow delivery). She
helped take supplies to our room; hers was also on the 13th floor. She
brought the stuff in and I showed her my 6-7 y/o AccuChek Complete meter
I had with me. She saw its age and I told her I hated the new version of
the Complete. She asked if it was because of the back light? I said it
was and it sounded like I am not the only one. I also said the dark blue
poker (Softclix) is easily lost as there is no contrast. She said
because of user preference they will stay dark. I told her everyone is
unique - I'm Uniquer. lol However I imagine other DMers have lost them
against a dark surface (including the black case).

Then I said, "Do you know what tonight is besides time change?" She did
not. I said, "It's Lancet Change day and we do it 4x a year (explaining
New Year's Day, Spring/Fall time change, and July 4)." She asked if my
doctor knows I do that (or don't do it)? I said it didn't make any diff.
if he did know cuz I still wouldn't change it. (We used to sharpen our
26g needles on a whetstone when they got fishhook tips and my glass
syringes were kept in Isopropyl alcohol to keep them germ free.) I had 4
lancets in my meter case for emergency situations and I told her that
was a year's worth. <VBG>

I also chaired the conference 7.5 yrs ago and one member said I should
do it again in 7 yrs. I said, "NO! I'll be 73 years old!"
