Re: [IP] No pumps allowed in airport metal detectors
I posted awhile back asking what is the preferred method for air travel
with the pump. I have traveled a lot lately to many different airports
and have found not only that all are different, but each screener is
different as well.
The pump, depending on where you wear, can set off the metal detector.
Example in my bra it always sets it off, on my belt only sometimes.
Each screener is different as well. For example the shift manager at
Orange County had just read a memo about pump wearer's only being
wanded. However next time I mentioned I had a pump they said just walk
through and we'll see if it sets it off.
Word is do not stick the pump in your carry-on that goes on the
conveyor belt. Supposedly not good for the pump. Insulin should be
fine, supposedly. Do not stick insulin in your checked baggage as the
pressure and temperature variances can hurt it.
So when you get to the security check point, tell the person by the
metal detector that you have a pump and they will tell you what they
prefer. As long as they are aware of what's going on they are super
helpful and used to encountering pump wearers.
