Re: [IP] Other pump experiences?

Hi Margaret!

I am using the Animas IR1000 and have been pretty happy with it. My one and
only problem is that it allows only 255 units in a 24 hour period. I take a
lot of insulin and sometimes the pump will shut down on me and tell me I've
had enough. But, I'm working with my doctor to go up to maybe U500 insulin
to do away with that problem.

I was getting alarms which asked me to call Animas. They tracked the number
of alarms and promptly replaced my pump. The way to clear the alarm was to
take the batteries out and put them back in again. So, there was never a
"this is broke problem". Rather it was a matter of inconvenience and the
fact that it was headed that way.

The Animas is water proof, if that is a big deal to you. I myself take the
pump off to take a shower. Otherwise the pump will do a high dive from the
soap dish! LOL

Well, that's my take on Anima. I hope it helps!

Focus on the journey, not the destination. Joy is found not in
finishing an activity but in doing it.
