RE: [IP] Opinions on the Paradigm upgrade - Yes you can use the Bolus Wizard w/o using the BD monitor!!!

You can use the Bolus Wizard without using the BD monitor. I do. I use
my DEX meter. Minimed told me that the wireless link provides better
control, however it just sends the bg from the meter to the pump, and I
have not seen the pump behave any differently when I enter the number

The BD monitor does work, however its 5 second count and quick start on
counting means you must ensure that you have enough blood ready before
you put the monitor anywhere near the finger and never touch the finger,
just the blood in the center of the strip. That said, you don't have to
use the BD monitor. In fact the Minimed Pumps and Meters software,
assuming they every decide to let us use it, will work with many other
monitors as well as the BD.

Subject: [IP] Opinions on the Paradigm upgrade

Speaking of the Flexible Spending Account, I have to now figure my
dollar figure for next years expenses. I am strongly contemplating
putting in
$500 to cover the new Paradigm upgrade. However.....I would love input
from those already on it. I completely dislike and do not trust the BD
monitor. I've had too many troubles with it. Therefore, I would not
that monitor. So...for those of you out there who purchased the
Paradigm upgrade........is it worth it?? If not using the BD monitor
with it would you still recommend it? Does anyone out there wish
they DIDN'T purchase it? This is for my 9 year old daughter. As
always, I appreciate your help!
