[IP] RE: Memphis, TN with 3 year old newly diagnosed

Whether or not there is diabetes in your family may be helpful to know
from a genetic point of view, however your belief that your daughter can
do anything she wants will be most important. I was diagnosed type 1 at
age 4 (first on either side, although there is type 2 on my mom's side),
worked very hard and retired when I had my first child at age 38 and am
now (at age 41) am 5 months pregnant with the 2nd. I have been lucky
that my mom worked hard to keep my diet reasonable, that my body has
thus far forgiven any transgressions I made, and that my parents never
said I could not do something because I was diabetic.

Ps. On the genetics side, keep in mind that "More than 5 million
Americans have undiagnosed diabetes".
