[IP] perimenopouse - puberty

Yvonne and Leeann:

I am 43 yr also - it started about six months ago for me about every 3 or 4
months with a week or so of major highs, etc. All my CDE and I can come up
with also is "hormones". I have an Animas pump with 4 basal programs and
monthly I switch to a 2nd program about two days before my period. Then on
the 3rd or 4th month (YMMV) I switch to a 3rd basal for a few days with extra
high basals. It has only happened to me twice so far but both times I had
about 8 to 10 days of major highs. Other than that my numbers run very
consistent so it must be hormones. I would never have considered it was
perimenopause, etc. until the CDE suggested it. I exercise very regularly and
consistently and have never had many problems with monthy cycles, so I didn't
even think of it as a factor. But at least by accepting that it might be the
cause of my problems I was able to get rid of the fact that "I was just plain
cracking up" during those 8 to 10 days! (FYI - I wrote in a long detail about
this last time it happened to me back in August and there were some responses
to this list and many more sent to me individually about women in their 40's
who had encountered the same thing).

Hi Yvonne,

Eileen is 13. I think there's your answer. ;-)

<<I am pretty sure I'm already in perimenopause (I'm almost 43), and I go
through the cycling, too. I think it's just the effect of hormones>>
