[IP] no carb basal test

Yo, all veteran pumpers -

According to the Pumping Insulin book, in order to test basals, meals must
be skipped. However, wouldn't the same results be obtained if one simply
ate a meal with NO CARBS AT ALL and then tested?? This would avoid
devastating starvation, at least in my case!

Thanks very much,
Barbara
No, it would not be the same. The enteric response to food is to release
glucose from the liver. this results from glucagon release from the small
intestine unless your islet cells are so blasted you no longer have any delta
cells left.
your blood glucose would rise just in response to food. spot
