I visualize Diabetes as a skinny white slimy humanoid monster with
knobby joints and a distended belly and huge blue eyes that rides on the
back of my brain inside my skull (I think I got it from John Varley's
Titan series). 

Sometimes this monster sleeps, and sometimes he's ROARINGLY awake, but
he's ALWAYS there. And he's most likely to wake up when I try to forget
about him. He ALWAYS has to be placated. It's sometimes an overwhelming
