[IP] IR-1000 Precision

The IR-1000 is "state-of-the-art" in infusion pump technology.  It is 
built with layer upon layer of redundant safety featured, designed

The DC motor, that incorporates a gear reducer and encoder to measure 
motor shaft movement, drives a lead screw that in turn, drives the 
pump plunger.  Motion of the syringe plunger pushes insulin out of 
the cartridge with precise accuracy.  The built-in computer, the 
microcontroller, keeps track of the encoder pulses to extraordinary 
precision.  The pump also incorporates a force sensor to detect 
occlusions rapidly and a linear sensor to track plunger position. 
The microcontroller performs frequent and extensive self-tests. 
These tests include battery voltage checks, checks of the linear 
sensor and source sensor, and memory integrity checks.  All these 
verifications ensure that the IR-1000 has unparalleled safety and 
reliability to protect against both over infusion and under infusion 
of insulin.  A +/- 5 percent variance of delivery is NOT an 
acceptable standard for Animas!
