I remember a book that my mom had to buy when I was first diagnosed; it was
written by Dr. Elliot Joslin, who was a diabetes specialist before insulin
discovered and his practice was the first to use it, also pioneered close
control of blood sugars, was the founder of Joslin Diabetes Center.

Sybil - do you happen to know where Joslin practiced?  Keene State College
in NH has a Joslin Hall which used to house their nursing program and
patient rooms early in the 1900's, headed by a Dr. Joslin - haven't been
able to discover if it's the same guy or not.  On my "to do" list for "one
of these days" lol
