[IP] Web MD - comments on pump -

<A HREF="http://my.webmd.com/content/article/1680.53406">WebMD - Questions Asked, Questions Answered About Treating Diabetes</A>

Is the insulin pump right for me?

"It's not for everyone. It is a good tool for patients with type 1 diabetes.
Those with type 2 respond better to oral medicines with or without insulin.
The pump is still a lot of work. You have to measure your blood sugar and
adjust the pump several times each day, and you have to change the tubing
every two or three days. A person using an insulin pump must check their
blood sugar by fingerstick before each meal and at bedtime. You might be
checking eight to10 times a day if you are feeling ill. It is a process that
needs to be individualized for each patient."
