Re: [IP] CA insurance: aetna, lifeguard?

This may be of only limited help, but I belonged to Aetna PPO when I was dxed
9 years ago and they were fantastic. I wasn't on the pump then and still am
not, but I think their track record with me might be telling anyway. I had
extremely easy access to my specialist, was hospitalized for a week with
excellent education that continued on an outpatient basis for me, my family
and friends who wanted to be involved in classes. Education was free and
medication and supplies were covered 80 percent. After 7 years of HMO
coverage, I think paying 20 percent for no hassles and better care is well
worth it. My husband and I are switching to a PPO plan as of January.
Hope this helps.
