My son has a terrible time with pain on insertion.  So I got his endo to 
prescribe EMLA ointment which is a topical numbing ointment.  Put some on the 
insert site and let it set for about 1/2 hour to 45 minutes.  Wipe off during 
cleansing and that should do it!  Kind of expensive but one tube should last 
2-3 months!
