It is a way of analysing your foods based on their carb factors,  If you
have a bowl of cereal with a carb factor of say .37, it will be 37% CHO in
100 grams (about 3.8 oz)

I typed it from the pumping insulin book, pages around 254-? I can't
remember now, I'm getting tired.

I typed it into my palm desktop. Then hot synced it into the PDA itself with
memo book storing it all.  This way I can go out somewhere and have a
comprehensive guide to carb counting.
