I've tried a variety of treatments for lows over the years. Now, I either
use orange juice (8 oz) for a "normal" low when I'm at home but if I have a
bad low (under 50 glucose reading) then I use Insta-Glucose glucose gel
which supplies 24 g of carbohydrate. It is extremely quick acting - within 5
minutes or so. I always have three or four tubes with me. The problem is
that Insta-Glucose costs $3 to $4 per tube...
