Keep bugging your doctor. There is no such thing as being obsessive with a 
chronic problem. My daughter started on the pump at age 12, one year after 
she was diagnosed. Her Hgb A1-C was 6.4 also because of the lows. She has 
stabilized some after she started her period but hardly ever has a low on the 
pump. As a matter of fact her Hgb A1-C kept going up! Last time she was at 
10.2! The easiest way to avoid that is to check 6-7 times a days...ouch!
Keep pushing her. The pump gives you more flexibility and normal lifestyle.
