          User of Alternative Medicine Charged With
          Manslaughter After Girl Dies


               SHEVILLE, N.C. -- A practitioner of alternative medicine
has been
               charged with manslaughter in the death of an 8-year-old
diabetic girl
               after he was accused of persuading her mother to use
herbs as

          The girl, Helena Rose Kolitwenzew, died on Oct. 21 after her

          practicing medicine without a license, Lieutenant Constance
said. A decision
          has not been made whether to charge the child's mother.

          Perry and the center have unlisted telephone numbers and could
not be
          reached for comment on Friday.
