You are correct Ruth about the glycemic index telling us about how quickly
carbs get into the blood.  But that doesn't mean the mixing them up changes
the glycemic index.  OJ has a high index because it raises the BG quickly.
If you eat OJ and beans (yuck!), the OJ goes right in to spike the BG and
the beans slosh around the gut for a while.  Same would be true for adding
beans to that good old cap'n crunch :-)
