One of the things you have to do is make sure there is a "blob" of 
the stuff on the skin. rubbing on a little like an ointment won't 
really work. The best method is to put on a blob, spread it around 
and cover it with some kind of bandage or a piece of tape to keep it 
from getting smeared.
