Re: [IP] Re:pumps and retinopathy



Although I cannot quote any references off the top of my head, it is fairly
well documented in the diabetes literature that retinopathy may worsen,
temporarily, during the onset of tight control.  This deterioration is only
for a short period of time and will resolve in most cases, if improved
glycemic control is maintained.

The exacerbation of retinopathy is not due to the pump itself, but to the
tighter control.  The same effect would happen to someone whom switched from
once or twice daily  to multiple injections.
