hypoglycemia can occur many hours after drinking.  there are a few reasons
why but one i tell clients is the alcohol is metabolized by the liver and the
liver is also responsible in reversing a low BG.  the liver would rather deal
with the alcohol thus leaving you low.  also, the alcohol may have impeded
your ability to recognize a low BG.  many persons using pumps might lower
their basal rate temporarily before going to bed after having alcohol thus
preventing lows.
