Your fingers should never be black and blue. If they are I'd say that you have
the depth too deep on the poker.  Might try a different brand poker if that
one isn't working for you. Doesn't have to be the same brand as your meter. 
Also might need to change the kind of lancets you use.
The only one i've used was called the vaculance for the stomach as an
alternative site - however that was ages ago. But remember this is the same
thing as the glucose sensors these places are not for sugar levels right now
but what they were 15 minutes ago.

I have used up my fingers taking blood.  They are very black and blue  with
blisters.  I use a One Touch device.  I have a clear plastic  cover to be used
to get blood other than fingers.  I can't seem to use it  as the needle
doesn't come out far enough. I managed to get blood from stomach manually. If
anyone can teach me how to use the devise I'll be  grateful.  Thank you all so
