Type 2 is marked by a gradual decrease in beta cell function. If you have it 
long enough, your pancreas eventually stops making insulin. However, that 
does not make you a Type 1. Type 1 is an autoimmune disease, where the body 
attacks and kills the beta cells. Type 2 is not autoimmune.
