Re: [IP] Re: insulin-pumpers-digest V10 #882
I was just diagnosed with Myositis & Raynaud's syndrome. My first doc wanted to
start me on steroids which put my blood sugars into the 500s with just one pill!
I refused to take anymore and asked the doc for something else. He refused to
give me any other options so I went to a new doctor. The new doc is making me
get all kinds of tests to make 100% sure I have myositis (it's like arthritis
except it affects your muscles) before putting me on any meds. He agreed to not
put me on steroids unless all other avenues of treatment fail. It is frustrating
to have another chronic condition, but what can you do?

I'm another one with Type 1 for 33 years and have several autoimmune
problems. Four years ago I developed Auto Immune Hepatitis (cirrhosis of
the liver and fibrosis of the lung resulted) for which I took an immune
suppressant drug, Azathioprine - now the AIH is "in remission" and don't
take that pill. Of course I have Hashimoto's Autoimmune Thyroid disease and
take a pill for that. Those are the most serious auto-immune problems that
I have right now.
