My father, who does not have diabetes, was diagnosed with celiac disease
almost 30 years ago.  He is now 72.  One of my older brothers has had
diabetes for 35 years and I myself  have had diabetes for 24 years.  So far
neither my brother nor myself have been diagnosed with celiac.  I also have
6 other brothers and sisters who have neither.
