Of course with your son being only 3, he would use a very small amount of 
insulin.  In your case you might want to dilute insulin, as well.  But 
pumpers like this are the extreme minority.

The insulin in a cartridge should "keep" in any weather conditions for two 
weeks for Humalog and 4 weeks for Novolog.  Any that you have to throw out is 
a very, very small cost of the total cost of pumping.  Just something to
