Take another view with the glass half full :-)

Josh is clearly well adjust enough that he considers his life normal 
and forgets that he has diabetes -- this is a good thing. Many people 
and in particular teens (coming for him soon) really have hang ups 
when they have a chronic health problem. He might not be so well 
adjusted if he had to do shots several times a day.
