[IP] Re: regular pop

One idea for talking to your son about drinking regular pop, etc. is the fact 
that over time, consuming excessive amounts of carbs like that will cause him 
to gain weight.  As the biochemist I used to work for put it, if you eat a 
large meal that has too many calories then you need right now, most of it 
turns to fat anyways.....and if you drink a regular sodapop two hours after 
that meal, the soda pop will turn into fat because your body doesn't need the 
calories yet.  The bottom line here is a matter of pure biology and the fact 
that it is far healthier to consume good quality foods for nutrition (good 
quality gives more vitamins) than does poor quality foods such as regular pop 
which is void of all nutrition.
