Subject: [IP] iv correction bolus

Hi John,
Just wondering why your friend is so impatient to get high sugars down. A
lot of folks find that rapid decreases in sugars makes them feel
hypoglycemic, whether their sugar is actually below target range or not -
not a good feeling. And, if you stick a vein too often, you risk clotting
it off, so that's one less vein you have for drawing blood, etc. Plus, more
risk of infection (the skin has some barriers to infection that injecting
directly into the bloodstream doesn't), bruising, bleeding, etc. I don't
think she's really helping her overall control that much, more a mental
thing that the numbers look good than a body thing that it really makes any
long term difference whether that 300 is down in 10 minutes or 120.
