If the internal pressure of "you" were lower you would get squished. 
The water pushes on the surface of your skin and indirectly on all 
your "innards" as well. The pressure inside and outside of "you" is 
in equlibrium when you skin or scuba dive except when you fail to 
clear your ears -- remember the pain!!!
