What's more, site issues can show up months or even years after you have
a problematic site. I stopped using my second-last pump in 2004. To save
money, I used to extend sites for several days, sometimes until they were
red or itchy. At the time they healed in a day or so, no problem. A few
years later, I noticed those areas were becoming a bit lumpy, and 12
years later the fatty tissue there still feels a bit harder than normal.
Being forced to change sites every three days is one reason I appreciate
my Omnipod.
