Re: [IP] Homeowner's coverage of pump

I had to add an additional $6000 worth of coverage to my total coverage but
there are no limitations on being able to put a claim in for the pump for any
reason. They told me that the pump could have been covered under the basic
policy without extra coverage, they have done this for pumpers in the past. Our
coverage amount is so low since we rent I was worried about being able to
replace everything I owned on the small renter's policy if my apartment burned
down and the pump was also destroyed.

Subject: [IP] Homeowner's coverage of pump

As for the suggestion of checking homeowner's insurance to replace the
dog-chewed pump, I checked with our insurance company when we first got the
pump and they required a rider specifically covering the pump, otherwise it
would not be covered. We pay a small annual premium for the rider, but feel
it is worth it as I couldn't afford a $6,000 pump right now. I'd be
interested to know if anyone has had an insurance company that did cover it
without such a rider.
