Re: [IP] Fractured rib
On 3-12 I tripped and broke my lt foot, a few days later I tripped on the
stairs and cracked a rib, then on the 3-24 I messed up again and tripped on my
back stairs and completed breaking my rt 9th rib. BGlucose went wild and had to
increase my basals by 0.3 units around the clock. I've just started reducing the
basals back to the pre-break levels today.
I was told it was stress that caused my high sugars, !!!!! It is H*** knowing
you need to cough and what is going to happen when you do. Found that if you
press your hand or pillow against the broken rib it really helps to cut the
pain.

Hi
A few weeks ago I had the flu - inspite of all efforts to get the flu shot,
but that is another story. One of my symptoms was "violent" coughing.
because of the coughing one of my ribs was fractured. I do not take anything
for it - Tylenol did not help much and because I had a kidney transplant I
can not take Ibuprofen or something similiar. Besides I hate taking extra
medications.
My blood sugars were crazy during the 10 days I suffered from the flu, but
although it is 4 weeks later, I am still on the blood sugar rollercoaster.
Is it possibly the fractured rib that casues this?
Thanks
Karlien
