RE: [IP] what is trigger finger and what can you do about it??

Wow something I can actually contribute! I have trigger fingers in
almost everyone of my fingers except my thumbs. When I spoke to my hand
specialist it seems that this is a problem with diabetics that is
growing (or maybe more people are coming forward instead of just living
with it). My dad also has them and he is a non-diabetic. I am not sue
on the causes but my symptoms are the fingers are painful at the joint
when trying to bend or straighten the finger (mostly effect the middle
joint but sometimes I get sore at the base joint). When it gets bad my
finger actually sticks in a bent position and pops or triggers when I
try to straighten it. This is also super painful but just for a few
minutes. What has helped is heat and exercises. I have opted for this
rather than surgery which I will probably eventually get but my fingers
have improved with warm towel wraps followed by open and closing fists.
Hope this gives you some info. that might help.

Insulin Pumpers is made possible by your tax deductible contributions.
Your donation of $10, $25, or more... just $1 or $2 per month is
needed so that Insulin Pumpers can continue to serve you and the rest of
the diabetes community. Please visit:

Your annual contribution will eliminate this header from your IP mail

I think I might have the symptoms of trigger finger but I wanted to
know more about the medical symptoms, what causes it and what can be
done about it. Thanks.
